I have been an avid chess player since I was a little boy. I was thrilled to find these beautiful chess pieces in the markets of Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan while working with Taalim Forum to assess Kyrgyz traditional arts, funded by The Christensen Fund.

Looking at this picture, one can not help but think about the inherent dynamics that unconsciously influence how we understand power. Translating these shifts of culture, class, color and gender into strategic alignment of programs, leadership and fundraising strategies is where we thrive.
